The film is about Morgan, a non-verbal autistic teenage girl, who is intelligent, deeply frustrated by her inability to communicate, and feeling essentially trapped by her condition. As a last resort, Morgan's desperate mom Liz seeks out a controversial new form of therapy. Morgan's "Facilitated Communications" therapist Anna helps Morgan to learn to express herself by taping words on a specially designed keyboard. Morgan begins to shed all habits and dangerous behaviors. When Anna teaches Liz how be a "Facilitator" with Morgan, the gift of Morgans's voice is finally set free. Mother and daughter find one another for the first time and discover the capacity to move forward as a mutually devoted, unbroken team.

Although Morgan is non-verbal, in Hear Me the audience hears her thoughts through voice-over narration and learns not only she is intelligent, she also has a vibrant inner wellspring to share with those who are willing to listen. Hear Me is inspired by a true-life story.
