Quixote Nuevo: Transported to a border town in Texas, the eccentric, brilliant knight embarks on a cross-desert quest to reunite with a long-lost love. Chased by Death himself – in the form of roving bands of guitar-playing Calacas – Quixote always leads with his heart in a world of people led astray by their brains.

NOTE: Ensemble members may be required to sing or play a musical instrument.

The Tempest: The Tempest is thought to be one of the last plays that Shakespeare wrote alone. After the first scene, which takes place on a ship at sea during a tempest, the rest of the story is set on a remote island, where the sorcerer Prospero, a complex and contradictory character, lives with his daughter Miranda, and his two servants — Caliban, a savage monster figure, and Ariel, an airy spirit. The play contains music and songs that evoke the spirit of enchantment on the island. It explores many themes including magic, betrayal, revenge, and family.

NOTE: Actors must be able to move well. Athleticism, background in movement and dance preferred.

Paradise Blue: In a strip of Detroit known as Paradise Valley, a man named Blue struggles to keep his father's business, Paradise Club, afloat during a push towards gentrification. The city wants to kick African-Americans in the community of Black Bottom out by buying up properties up and down the strip. Blue, who is haunted by the memory of his father, teeters on the edge of madness as he decides whether selling the club is selling his soul. Along with the city, another man in Blue's band, P-Sam, and a mysterious sexy stranger named Silver, begin to fight for ownership over the club, sending Blue and his woman Pumpkin into more confusion. Can Blue's friend and confidante, Corn, keep Blue from falling into insanity, or will he be caught in Silver's web? Can Pumpkin stand up for herself and tell Blue what she really feels, or will she concede to his demands? The people who occupy Paradise Club begin to turn on each other and change as the city of Detroit changes around them. Dominique Morisseau illuminates the effects of gentrification and the erasure of Black History on the African-American community with the first play in The Detroit Project, leaving us hungry for more. She continues her exploration with her next plays Detroit '67 and Skeleton Crew.

We Declare You a Terrorist: After being held hostage in a Moscow theater by terrorists demanding an end to Russia's war in Chechnya, one man is still haunted by the relationships he made during the crisis and unable to move past the tragic events that surrounded the siege's conclusion. In a desperate attempt to understand where he and his country have come to he attempts to sneak into Chechnya only to be captured by Russian agents and suspected of being a terrorist himself. All alone in an interrogation room on the Russian frontier he is forced to confront just what happened during those fifty-seven hours in 2002.

It's Not a Trip It's a Journey: June needs to go on a journey so she convinces three friends to join her on a road trip west. A play about tumbleweed, friendship, being black, and needing to soothe something you don't always have the words for.

God of Carnage: Winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Play, "God of Carnage" relates an evening in the lives of two couples, residents of a tony Brooklyn neighborhood, who meet to discuss a playground incident. Alan and Annette's son Henry hit Michael and Veronica's son Benjamin in the face with a stick, resulting in two broken teeth. The four of them agree to discuss the incident civilly, but, as the night wears on and drinks are imbibed, the polite veneer breaks down. The couples initially spar against each other, but the men gang up on the women and the spouses switch sides as the fighting continues. Reza's play suggests that our civilized trappings do a poor job of hiding our venality and bile.

Preparation: Please bring a picture and resume. Prepare one monologue. If interested in Quixote Nuevo or The Tempest, please not if you sing or play an instrument.
